I recently came across this incredibly useful link to bookmark…

A page on Twitter’s website that outlines the Twitter Trademark and Content Display Policy.

It might sound dull, but the graphic designer (buried deep inside me) LOVES a good style and brand guide. It really makes working with other brands so much easier.

Or as Twitter says in their own words:

This policy is designed to help you use our brand and assets, including our logo, content and trademarks without having to worry about negotiating a separate agreement with us or talking to our lawyers. If you’d like to make any use of our marks that is not covered by this document, you must contact us at trademarks at twitter.com and include a visual mockup of intended use.

So… best avoid having the chat with the lawyers! I do imagine them being birds though…

The guide includes:

Logo downloads

It includes downloads (in EPS and PNG) of the various approved colour variations and usage guidelines for them.

Promoting your Twitter account

It details how the Twitter brand should be used in advertising and marketing materials to show that your product or device is Twitter compatible.

Online tips for developers and microsite campaigns

There is also information and links to other content relevant for integrating with Twitter, running Twitter contests, and rules on Spam and Automation.

And a STACK of other stuff, including a reminder to use a capital “T” for Twitter and Tweet.

So well worth checking out, and bookmarking. If you haven’t used the link above, here it is again: Twitter Trademark and Content Display Policy. Bookmark it. Now.
